    LED lighting often saves more than 50% of electricity compared to conventional light sources such as fluorescent tubes, mercury vapor lamps (HPL \/ HQL), metal halide (HPI \/ HQI) and high-pressure sodium (SON \/ NAV).<\/p>\n

    When applying dynamic lighting solutions, the savings can even exceed 80% by controlling LED fixtures via intelligent electronics and by using motion and \/or daylight sensors.<\/p>\n

    Thanks to motion sensors, the light will burn at full strength as soon as the sensor detects a movement of a person or machine (forklift truck). If there is no more movement, the light goes out or stays on at an orientation lighting level for safety.<\/p>\n

    In the case of daylight sensors, the electronics ensure that there is always the desired light level on the work floor. With a lot of natural light incidence (i.e. daylight domes or windows), the LED fixtures dim down to the desired light level, which results in extra savings. If daylight incidence is reduced by clouds or dusk, the light output of the LED fixtures is increased to the desired preset light level. This is fully automatic proces.<\/p>\n

    6. A safer work environment<\/h3>\n

    For safety, a good light quality is very important. Studies have shown that better light leads to safer working conditions. Especially in industrial environments, with interactions between man and machine, it is important that sight and visibility are good. Wearing a safety helmet, jacket and shoes are now mandatory in most production environments. But often there is no safe light level.<\/p>\n

    In factory halls with conventional lighting, the light level was suffici\u00ebnt at the time of the purchase, often many years ago. Over the years the light output of the lighting fixtures have decreased. In the case of gas discharge lamps and fluorescent tubes, this can go down to as much as 50% of the original light output. In addition, fixtures get dirty due to dust and\/or (welding) vapors, for example. Dust and dirt will burn into the reflector, which will turn brown and will no longer reflect properly. Furthermore, if it has one, the glass cover will get dirty as well. This results in a significant reduction of the efficiency of the fixture.<\/p>\n

    At this moment, governments no longer allow certain light sources for company lighting, such as mercury vapor lamps (HPL\/HQL). These light sources are therefore no longer readily available. Because they are so inefficient and environmentally harmful, these lamps will disappear completely over time. Major manufacturers such as Philips, Osram, and GE have also stopped producing these types of lamps. Furthermore, the ballasts which are required to ignite the light sources are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. These conventional devices have already disappeared or will disappear completely in the near future. Lighting is a determining factor in production industrial buildings.
