The challenge here was to place as few masts as possible, while illuminating the teminal surface optimally. The 45-meter high masts are more than 150 meters apart. Moreover, the masts had to be placed in such a way that they would not interfere with the operations. Of course, at the same time the requirements regarding \u200b\u200blight levels and uniformity had to be met.<\/p>\n<p>We have the expertise in house to design a light plan, in which the container terminal is optimally illuminated, taking all this kind of limitations and requirements into account.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of a solution with 1000W SON-T (High-Pressure Sodium &#8211; yellow light) originally designed by the engineering firm, the client chose for a modern energy saving lighting solution. By applying a combination of narrow, medium and wide-angle lenses, a very high level of uniformity has been achieved at the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>The container cranes can be seen on the picture on the right. All new quay cranes (QCs) from ZPMC for London Gateway are equipped with salty-air resistant fixtures. The lighting ensures safer working conditions due to the greatly improved visibility.
