1. Cost and energy savings

With modern LED lighting, huge savings can be realized on energy consumption and on costs.

LED lighting  saves more than 50% of electricity compared to conventional light sources. Traditionally, sites are illuminated with High-Pressure Sodium (SON/NAV) or Metal Halide (HPI/HQI) and in some odd cases with very old-fashioned monochromatic Low-Pressure Sodium (SOX) fixtures. For this type of gas discharge light sources, Yourlight has good LED alternatives that are specially developed for the outdoor lighting.

When using dynamic lighting solutions (dimming), the savings can even exceed 80%. This could include controlling intelligent LED fixtures through electronics using montion and/or daylight sensors.

As far as motion sensors are concerned, the light will switch on at full strength as soon as the sensor detects movement of a person or machine on the yard. If there is no more movement, the light switches off or stays on a orientation lighting level for safety.

In order to determine the quality of light, the Color Rendering Index (CRI) is particularly important. The correct colour temperature (K) also influences light quality and important in industrial environments.

Good light on sites where people work is important for safety. Scientific studies show that better light (= better visibility) leads to safer working conditions. Especially in areas where man and machine interact, it is important that the visibility is good. Wearing a safety helmet, jacket and shoes are now mandatory in most companies. But oftentimes good lighting conditions are neglected.

On many yards with conventional fixtures, the light level was adequate when these fixtures were newly installed. However, the light output of the lamps decreases over the years significantly. In the case of gas discharge lamps such as SON and HPI, depreciation of the light output can decline as much as 50% or more of the original light output. In addition, luminaires are contaminated by environmental pollution, such as rain, insects and salty air. Dust and dirt will burn into the reflector, which will turn brown and will no longer reflect properly. Furthermore, the cover glass will get dirty. Reasons that make the efficiency of the fixture decrease significantly.

The luminaires for yards that are part of the lighting solution from Yourlight are always dust and spray water-proof (IP66 or IP67). In addition, the cover glass is often made of tempered glass that has been made antistatic during the production process. As a result, the glass cover protects the polycarbonate (PC) or polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) lenses, with which our LED luminaires are fitted, and it does not get contaminated by dust, dirt and insects. This keeps the fixtures highly efficiency. In addition, we always offer fixtures equipped with the most high-quality LEDs and electronic drivers from A-manufacturers. These LEDs are proven to only depreciate about 20% in light output during their lifespan.

It is advisable that companies that want to create safe working conditions for their employees comply with the European Norms in the field of lighting. For yard lighting this is the EN 12464-2. Insurers also look strictly at the lighting conditions in the unfortunate case that there is a calamity with (human) damage. 7. Business continuity

Because governments no longer allow certain light sources, such as mercury vapor lamps (HPL/HQL), these light sources are no longer available. HPI/HQI and SON/NAV will follow soon. Because they are so inefficient and environmentally harmful, these lamps will disappear completely over time. Major manufacturers such as Philips, Osram, and GE have already largely stopped producing these types of lamps. Also, the ballasts are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. These conventional devices have already disappeared or will disappear completely from the market in the short term. Lighting on yards is often a critical condition for production and/or use. If the lighting fails and is no longer available, business continuity is at stake.
