Gas discharge light sources, which are almost always used on cranes, such as High-Pressure Sodium (SON / NAV) or Metal Halogen (HPI / HQI), usually need about 10 minutes to burn at full power. They warm up slowly, as it were. This is unpleasant for the crane operator who wants to start immediately. What is even more annoying with this kind of lamps is that if the current is interrupted briefly, it often takes less than fifteen minutes before the lights go on again. And then it also takes a while before they burn again at full power. In this time, the crane is not productive in the dark. Besides frustration for the crane operator, this simply costs money.

The special (harbor) crane fittings of Yourlight are equipped with a (prismatic) lens. The big advantage of this is that the light is very accurately projected by using lenses. In the case of lighting on, for example, a container crane (STS / QC), the light, especially in the new Super Panamax cranes, which often have a beam at a height of more than 60 m, must bridge a distance to the deepest hold of the ship. sometimes 100m. For this, you need very narrow radiant fixtures. However, if a ship is fully stacked, the upper containers can come close to the main girder. 8. Business continuity
Partly because governments no longer allow certain light sources, such as mercury vapor lamps (HPL / HQL), these light sources are no longer (simply) available. HPI / HQI and SON / NAV will follow soon. Because they are so inefficient and environmentally harmful, these lamps will disappear completely over time.
