APM-T Tanger Med – Marokko
Cost savings, energy savings, higher productivity and safer working conditions are all caused by better light at the APM-T terminal in Tangier Med.
At APM-T Tanger Med, at the Mediterranean in the north of Morocco, Yourlight has replaced all conventional High-Pressure Sodium fixtures on the STS cranes. The 1000W and 400W luminaires (yellow light) have been replaced with 315W and 150W luminaires respectively (white light). This proved to be a great improvement for the visibility of the crane drivers. The reason is that the color reproduction and experience by the observer (Color Rendering Index) of the white light with Ra>90 is perceived considerably better than the yellow light of the old luminaires. This results in more productivity and safety at APM-T. In addition, a cost saving of no less than 71% was realized. This investment was amortized within a year and a half.
APM-T is determined to reduce the environmental footprint of its terminals worldwide. The lighting of harbor cranes and terrains is a significant part of the total energy consumption. The luminaires burn for an average of 12 hours per day (~4380 hours per year). Energy-saving lighting not only saves costs but also reduces the output of CO2. In Tanger, APM-T emits 107 tons less CO2 per crane per year since it is using Yourlight lighting.
