Harbor terrain Mammoet– Schiedam
Mammoet wanted enough light on the terrain to be able to work properly and safely, but that the light does not burn at full strength when it is not necessary.
Mammoet has switched from energy-hungry 10000W SON-T lighting to modern LED lighting.
From sundown to 23:00 the terrain lighting from 35m high masts always burns at full strength. From 23:00 in the evening until 6:00 am the light dims to 30%. In this way, a substantial extra saving is realized, which not only benefits the financial director of Mammoet, but also the Port of Rotterdam Authority (within the framework of the Rotterdam Climate Initiative), DCMR and the municipality of Schiedam.
In addition, local residents are satisfied that there is less light pollution from the harbor area at night and the monitoring has sufficient visibility of the site to detect possible irregularities early.
